ADVOCACY PROJECT FOR RCL II
As part of my Rhetoric and Civic Life Course at Penn State, I had to complete an advocacy project that had a real-world audience. My message and intent was to get Penn State to increase its engagement in Massive Open Online Courses. I attempted to do so by preparing a written and oral briefing for the Senior Director of the department of Teaching and Learning with Technology at Penn State.
I attemted to contact the department to try to get an oppurtunity to present the briefing, however no response was given to my initial inquiry.
Perhaps I will still get a chance to do this next year. My only concern is that this is the correct audience to be targetting whom have the authority to address the issue.
As part of a policy proposal essay for Rhetoric and Civic Life II, I wrote this piece concerning the current global policy on nuclear security. I presented the issue at hand in a full and attention-gathering detail with research and pathos-charged language and presented a viable policy to be implemeted that uses logic as its support.
The initial submission for review was well recieved in areas of argument and research. There was some evidence of weakness in the justification and final argument for the prpoposed policy itself. Many citation and wording errors also remained.
In this revised edition, I have made corrections to the recomendations of the grading professor and have updated much of the wording and language. However, I believe new research would have to be conducted to restructure and reinforce my argument in defense of the policy. Hopefully I'll be doing this in the near future.
